Michael Austin (* before 1977) is a screenwriter and film director .

Career

Austin's career began in 1977 with the film staff in the second unit area as an assistant director for the film Hardcore . He has worked as a screenwriter since 1978 and wrote the screenplay for The Death Scream . Based on the novel of Kay Boyle's short story Maiden, Maiden , he wrote the screenplay for On the Edge of the Abyss , a film by Fred Zinnemann with Sean Connery in the lead role. For his participation in the screenplay for Greystoke - The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes , he and his colleagues received an Oscar nomination in the category " Best Adapted Screenplay " at the 1985 Academy Awards . He made his directorial debut in 1990 in the comedy Killing Dad or How to Love Your Mother with Julie Walters , Denholm Elliott and Laura del Sol . He wrote his last screenplay for the film comedy Princess Caraboo (1994), where he himself was responsible as a director.
