Michael Blum (artist, 1942)

Michael Blum (* 1942 ) is a German artist and art educator.

Life

Michael Blum studied pedagogy and art education in Bonn from 1963, later also art and design. From 1991 to 2004 he headed the Cologne Cathedral Singing School . Since then he has been working in Euskirchen and Cochem / Mosel as a freelance painter and artist. He mainly focuses on Christian topics.

Numerous exhibitions at home and abroad as well as publications of his work in several publishing houses document his work. He achieved greater fame for the first time with the design of pictures of the seven stations of the ecumenical youth cross in 1996. Angels are a theological focus of his work . He designs objects (e.g. crosses made of wood with gold leaf and Easter candle holders), as well as churches, chapels, prayer and farewell rooms.
