Michael Erhard Bock (* 1953 ) is a German diplomat . From 2016 to 2018 he was the German ambassador in Bogotá .

After studying law, Bock specialized in international law . He accepted an assistant position with Bruno Simma and joined the Foreign Office in 1983 . From 1986 to 1989 he worked for the embassy in Caracas in the press and legal department. He then worked at the Foreign Office in Bonn in the Department of International Law until 1992 and then as a political advisor in Bangkok until 1994 . From 1994 to 1996 he was the permanent representative at the Amman embassy .

From 1996 to 2000 Bock was at the Foreign Office in Bonn and Berlin , where he was deputy head of the international law department. He then became head of the political department at the German Embassy in Madrid , which he remained until 2003. From there he returned to the Foreign Office and from 2003 to 2006 he was Head of the Policy Department and Personnel Affairs and from 2006 to 2009 Bock was at the Foreign Office in Berlin, where he was Deputy Head of the Central Department. There he was responsible for personnel matters, organization and finances. From 2009 Bock was German Ambassador in Cairo before he was accredited as German Ambassador in Stockholm in 2014. He has been President of Instex since 2019 .

Bock is married and has two children.
