Michael Fergus Bowes-Lyon, 18th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne (born June 7, 1957 - February 27, 2016 in London ) was a British politician and army officer.

Bowes-Lyon was the only son of Michael Bowes-Lyon, 17th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne (1928-1987) and his (since 1956) wife Mary Pamela McCorquodale (* 1932). He was a great-nephew of the late British Queen Mother Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon , married in third marriage since 2012 and father of four children.

He received his education and training at Sunningdale School , Eton , the University of Aberdeen and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst . With the Scots Guards he got the rank of captain.

With the death of his father in 1987, Bowes-Lyon inherited the earliest dignity and the then associated seat in the House of Lords , from which he resigned in 1999 as a result of the House of Lords Act 1999 . During his time in the House of Lords, he was Captain of the Yeomen of the Guard from 1991 to 1994 , i.e. deputy group chairman .
