Michael Charisch

Michael Charisch ( Hebrew מיכאל חריש, Born November 28, 1936 in Timișoara , Kingdom of Romania ) is a former Israeli politician. From 1974 to 1996 he was a member of the Knesset for the Mapai and its successor, the Avoda . Under Yitzchak Rabin and Shimon Peres he was Minister for Trade and Economics from 1992 to 1996 , in the parliamentary elections in Israel in 1996 he lost his seat in parliament and thus his ministerial post.

Michael Charisch immigrated to Israel in 1950 as Oleh . He did his military service with the Golani Brigade , and studied economics and political science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem .
