Michael Davis (* 1967 ) is a retired American football and basketball player

career

Davis played from 1990 to 2002 with the Cologne Crocodiles in the football Bundesliga . He has been called "the greatest player in crocodile history". Initially, he was used as a running back  before he headed the Cologne game as a quarterback  . In the 2000 game year Davis was awarded with the team of German champions and as the best player in the final. He also led Cologne in 1990, 1991, 1993 and 1997 in the game in which the German champions were crowned, but these four finals were lost. Nevertheless, Davis also received the award for most valuable player in the final in 1990, 1991 and 1993. In 1990, 1991, 1993 and 2000 he was Germany's Footballer of the Year. The magazine Sport in Cologne named the American athlete of the year in 2000. In the fall of 1995 he was toying with a move to the Berlin Adlers , but it didn't materialize.

After the end of his football playing career in 2002, he was introduced as head coach of the Cologne Falcons regional division at the end of October of the same year . He led the Cologne team in the second division, in 2004 the first division promotion followed. At the end of 2005 there was a separation between Davis and the Cologne team.

Davis also played performance basketball. He played for TuS Blau-Weiß Königsdorf and TSV Bayer Dormagen, Davis reinforced the regional league team Fast-Break Leverkusen in the mid-1990s and also did a trial training session with the then German champions Bayer Leverkusen . In the 1996/97 season he was in the service of the second division club FC Schalke 04 . Until 2002 he was part of the BSG Grevenbroich team (1st and 2nd regional league) for three years . From September 2002 he played at Jugend 07 Bergheim ("Bergheim Bandits") in the 2nd regional league. Davis, who was used as a development player, made it to the 1st regional league with the team. He separated in October 2003 from the Bergheimers and shortly after moved within the league to Bayer Uerdingen . Then he was on the field for SG / ASG Bedburg.

Davis, who is a father of four, founded the Davis Sports eV association to give children and young people the opportunity to play basketball.
