Michael Diederich

Michael Diederich is a German manager and functionary. Since January 2018 he has been CEO of Hypovereinsbank (Unicredit Bank) in Munich as well as Country Chairman Germany and a member of the Executive Management Committee of the parent company Unicredit in Milan .

Among other things, he is a member of the supervisory board of FC Bayern Munich and President of the Bavarian Bankers Association .

Professional career

Diederich graduated with a degree in business administration in 1993 and began his professional career as an auditor in Frankfurt. In 1996 he started a trainee program at what was then Bayerische Vereinsbank (today: Hypovereinsbank) in London and Munich and then became an executive assistant in the corporate banking division. In 1999 he supplemented his academic career with an MBA. He received his PhD in 2010.

Apart from two interruptions, Diederich stayed at today's Hypovereinsbank or Unicredit and held various management positions. In 2015, he became the director of investment banking. Since January 2018, Diederich has been CEO of Hypovereinsbank, Country Chairman Germany and a member of the Executive Management Committee of the parent company Unicredit.

In 2016 Diederich became a member of the supervisory board of Bayerische Börse AG. In 2018 he resigned his mandate for regulatory reasons, but remained on the board of the Münchener Handelsverein eV, the owner of Bayerische Börse AG.

Diederich has been President of the Bavarian Bankers Association since 2017.

Diederich is seen as approachable, conscientious and respectful in dealing. As a new type of banker, he is supposed to embody a cultural change in the financial group.
