Michael Duffy (born July 28, 1994 in Londonderry ) is a Northern Irish football player who has been under contract with Dundalk FC since 2017 .

Career

society

Born in Londonderry in 1994 , Duffy began his career in his Northern Irish hometown with Derry City . With Derry Duffy won the Irish Cup in 2012 (Derry City is the only Northern Irish club to participate in league play in Ireland) in the final against St Patrick's Athletic . For Derry City , Duffy played 57 League of Ireland games between 2012 and 2015 , scoring 13 goals. In the 2014 season he was the team's top scorer with 11 goals. In February 2014, the 20-year-old moved to Celtic Glasgow for a fee of £ 100,000 and signed a contract until 2019. Duffy played for Celtic until the summer of 2015 in the reserve team. In July 2015, Duffy and Connor McManus were awarded the Scottish second division Alloa Athletic for six months . He made his debut for the Wasps on Matchday 1 against Queen of the South . The loan was extended in January 2016 until the end of the season. For the 2016/17 season Duffy was awarded to the Scottish first division club FC Dundee . The loan was terminated early in January 2017. Duffy moved from Celtic to his home country for Dundalk FC that same month . Since then he has won six national titles with the club.

National team

On February 1, 2012 Duffy played for the first time an international match for the Irish U-18 selection . Between 2012 and 2016 he then played a total of 12 games (1 goal) for the Northern Irish U-19 and U-21 national team .
