Michael Ernst Dreher (born January 8, 1944 in Schaffhausen ; entitled to live there ) is a Swiss politician ( FPS ).

Dreher has a doctorate in law and previously studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen .

Dreher founded the right-wing auto party in 1985 with like-minded people (from 1994 to 2009 Freedom Party ) as an antithesis to the Green Party and was party president until 1990. The auto party opposed lower speed limits and what they called “eco-terror”. She also called for the abolition of direct federal taxes , a more restrictive asylum policy and harsher punishment of criminals of all kinds, especially drug traffickers . From 1987 to 1999 he sat for the Freedom Party in the National Council . At the end of 2000 he left the FPS because it was fighting the bilateral treaties . Dreher rejects Switzerland's membership in the EU and the UN , but supports participation in EFTA and NAFTA to promote free trade . In 2001 he joined the Swiss People's Party (SVP). Dreher is currently President of the Auto Allianz Foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to combat all government actions that make private traffic more expensive and to abolish the ban on circuit racing .

Dreher was known nationwide for his tough dealing with political opponents; in 1988 he said that one should "nail left and green on the wall and throw a flame thrower over it."

Dreher is married and has one son. In the military he held the rank of captain .
