from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael Eberhard Prehn , called the Elder (born September 3, 1717 in Rostock ; † August 31, 1787 ibid) was a German merchant, councilor and landowner.

Life

Michael Eberhard Prehn was the son of the silk merchant and Rostock councilor Wilhelm Prehn (1686–1751) and his wife Anna Catharina, b. Niemann († 1739). Wilhelm Prehn, born and raised in Greifswald, married the sole heir of the Niemann business in 1716.

Like his father, Prehn worked as a merchant in Rostock and councilor of the city. In the 1780s he gave up his business activity and the office of councilor and, as the heir to Hohen Schwarfs , Berendshagen with Dolglas , Pustohl and Klein Gischow, only devoted himself to his estates.

Michael Eberhard Prehn was married to Sophia Theresia, geb. Lange (1727–1797), daughter of the Rostock merchant and councilor Johann Jakob Lange. The children came from marriage:

  • Wilhelm Prehn (1745–1816), merchant in Rostock
  • Johann Jacob Prehn (1746–1802), Prof. Dr. iur., administrative lawyer and university professor
  • Michael Eberhard Prehn (1747–1818), Dr. iur., administrative lawyer, senator and mayor
  • Dorothea Sophie Prehn (1749–1750)
  • Theresia Sophia Prehn (* 1750)
