Johann Jacob Prehn

Johann Jacob Prehn (born August 25, 1746 in Rostock , † February 23, 1802 in Schwerin ) was a German administrative lawyer and university professor.

Life

Prehn came from the old Rostock council family Preen (modernly written Prehn ). His father was the Rostock councilor Michael Eberhard Prehn (1717–1787), in turn the son of the Rostock councilor Wilhelm Prehn (1686–1751). The lawyer and Rostock mayor Dr. Michael Eberhard Prehn (1747-1818) was his brother.

Johann Jacob Prehn was enrolled at the University of Rostock as early as 1759 . From Easter 1766 he studied law together with his brother at the University of Göttingen , where both of them qualified as Dr. jur. have been awarded a doctorate. After that Prehn was first a lawyer in Rostock and 1776–78 private lecturer at the University of Rostock. In 1778 [according to other sources, 1780] he became a full professor of law at the University of Bützow and was its rector in 1784 and 1788. From 1782 he was part-time consistorial councilor in the ducal Mecklenburg-Schwerin consistory . From 1788 he was a legal advisor in the chancellery of the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin in Schwerin, from 1793 as its vice director.

Johann Jacob Prehn was married to the Rostock citizen daughter Agneta Christina Frehse.
