Michael Eberhard Prehn (the younger)

Michael Eberhard Prehn , actually: Michael Prehn , called the Younger (born December 10, 1747 in Rostock ; † March 22, 1818 there ) was a German administrative lawyer, senator and mayor of Rostock.

Life

Michael Eberhard Prehn came from the old Rostock council family Preen . His father was the same name Rostock merchant and councilor Michael Eberhard Prehn (1717–1787), in turn the son of the silk merchant and Rostock councilor Wilhelm Prehn (1686–1751). His mother was Sophia Theresia, geb. Lange, eldest daughter of the councilor and businessman Johann Jakob Lange.

After being educated by private teachers, Prehn was enrolled at the University of Rostock in April 1763 , where u. a. Eschenbach and Balecke were his teachers. From Easter 1766 he studied with his one-year older brother Johann Jacob Prehn law at the University of Göttingen , where both 1768 to Dr. iur. have been awarded a doctorate.

Afterwards Prehn first became a lawyer in Rostock. From 1781 he worked in the ducal law office in Rostock as a registered lawyer and procurator , from 1800 already as president. In addition, from 1786 he was a senator and city counsel. In 1805 he was elected mayor. He held this office until his death. When he was elected mayor, he also received the quarterly assessor due to the city at the Mecklenburg court and district court. His successor in the office of the syndic and also the mayor was Johann Taddel .
