Michael Ernst Bear
Michael Ernst Bär (born July 10, 1855 in Pottschapplitz ; † February 26, 1923 in Zwickau ) was a German entrepreneur and free-spirited politician .

The son of the landowner August Bär in Großgehenchen attended a three-class elementary school in Uhyst am Taucher . He then worked for two years on his father's estate before completing a commercial apprenticeship in Bischofswerda and Bautzen . In 1875/76 he did a year of military service as a volunteer. He then worked as a sales assistant in Bautzen from 1876 to 1878 before settling in Zwickau, where he initially worked as a traveling salesman until 1885. Since July 1, 1885, he and Alfred Dietrich owned the Dietrich & Bär company in Zwickau. In 1893 he became the sole owner of the company. In addition, he had been a co-owner of the Bär & Co. steam brickworks from 1890 onwards . In 1914 he was appointed councilor of commerce . Bär was a board member from 1890 to 1906 and from 1906 to 1918 chairman of the board of the Zwickau merchants.
From 1899 to 1910, Bär was politically active as a city councilor for Zwickau. In 1905 he was elected to the Second Chamber of the Saxon State Parliament in the Zwickau constituency, to which he belonged until it was dissolved in 1918. From 1907 to 1909 he held the post of deputy second secretary there. From 1909 to 1915 he acted as 2nd Vice President of the Chamber.
