Michael Haslob

Michael Haslob , also Michael Haslobius and Michael Haseloff (* around 1540 in Berlin , † April 28, 1589 in Frankfurt (Oder) ) was a German poet and humanist .

Life

After the early death of his mother, Haslob began his studies at the University of Frankfurt (Oder) . After a short stay at the University of Wittenberg on August 3, 1555 , he resumed his studies in Frankfurt (Oder) . As a student of Georg Sabinus and Johannes Schosser , he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree at the philological faculty in 1561 .

After becoming a member of the Senate of the Philosophical Faculty, he lectured. In 1572 the Frankfurt Academy appointed professor of poetry, which he remained until the end of his life. Shortly before his death, he had his second marriage to the daughter of Johannes Schosser, and he was friends with Michael Abel . He wrote occasional poems in a variety of forms, mostly in Latin, often spiritual and allegorizing.
