Michael Jäcke (born September 29, 1961 in the Lerbeck district of the city of Porta Westfalica ) is a German local politician (SPD) and was elected mayor of the East Westphalian city ​​of Minden on September 13, 2015 .

Life

After graduation at the Herder-Gymnasium Minden 1980 he graduated after the military service one year as an intern in the construction. From 1982 he studied at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences with a degree in architecture (FH) . He then worked for a Minden architectural office for a year, then in 1989 he moved to the Edeka Minden-Hannover retail group . Most recently, he was responsible for communications within the company.

He was an active handball player for a long time and runs marathons.

Jäcke is married, has two daughters and lives in Minden-Nordstadt .

politics

Jäcke joined the SPD in 1998 in the Minden local association. In 2004 he was elected to the city council for the first time. In 2009 he became chairman of the SPD city association in Minden. In the legislative period that came into force in 2014, he is the chairman of the committee for educational work, a member of the main and finance committee and a deputy member of the committee for construction, the environment and transport. On October 22nd, he was sworn in as mayor of the city of Minden.
