Michael Köck (also Keck , born August 29, 1760 in Innsbruck , † November 21, 1825 in Rome ) was an Austrian painter, etcher, fresco artist and restorer of frescoes.

Born the son of a businessman, Köck received his first training from the drawing teacher Johann Peter Denifle (1739–1808) in Innsbruck. He was sponsored by Count Franz Enzenberg and in 1777 was apprenticed to the painter Martin Knoller in Milan , where he stayed for seven years. In 1784 an Austrian artist grant enabled him to stay in Rome, where he stayed until the end of his life. In Rome he married Katharina Peters, daughter of the captain of the papal bodyguard.

In 1790 he founded the Accademia d'emulazione delle Belle Arti together with Felice Giani (1758–1823) . In 1814 he became a member of the Accademia di San Luca in Rome. In 1814 he was employed as an inspector, later vice director of the papal mosaic institute. In 1817 he became a member of the Congregazione dei Virtuosi at the Pantheon .

In addition to his own oil paintings and frescoes, Köck renovated old pictures and frescoes and also copied pictures by other painters.

Of his sons, Francesco Köck (* 1800) worked as a painter, Raffael Köck (* 1809) as a builder and sculptor.
