Michael Kißener

Michael Kißener (born December 3, 1960 in Bonn ) is a German historian and university professor in Mainz .

From 1982 to 1987 Kißener studied (since 1984 a scholarship from the Cusanuswerk Bishop's Foundation ) history, German studies and education at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn, where he also received his doctorate in 1991 . From 1992 to 2002 he was managing director of the “Research Center Resistance” at the University of Karlsruhe , where he qualified as a professor in 2000 . Since 2002 he has been Professor of Contemporary History at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . The main focus of his publications and lectures is the history of the National Socialist dictatorship and the resistance against National Socialism .

Since 2017, Kißener has been a member of the board of trustees of the Fridtjof Nansen Academy for political education at the Ingelheim further education center .
