Michael Kisskalt

Michael Kißkalt (born January 20, 1964 in Landshut ) is a Baptist clergyman and theologian. Since October 2014 he has headed the Elstal Theological University as its rector.

Life

Michael Kißkalt studied Protestant theology from 1985 to 1990 at the Universities of Erlangen and Tübingen . Following this, he completed a so-called candidate year at the Evangelical Free Church Theological Seminary , which was then based in Hamburg-Horn . In 1991 he was appointed youth pastor of the Berlin-Charlottenburg Baptist Congregation and - after completing a three-year vicariate period - was accepted into the list of recognized pastors of the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches (BEFG) .

1995 traveled Kißkalt as a missionary of the European Baptist Mission Society (EBM) to Cameroon from where he headed until 1999 theological education work of the Cameroon Baptist churches. At the same time he was rector of the Cameroon Theological Seminary in Ndiki .

After his return to Germany he worked part-time as pastor of the aforementioned Charlottenburg Baptist congregation. At the same time he taught as a lecturer in missiology at the Elstal Theological University. In 2003, Kißkalt moved from community service to the governing body of the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches and worked there until September 2014 as a consultant for evangelism. In this context, he headed the International Baptist Mission in Germany, under whose umbrella groups and communities of migrants are united in the BEFG .

2014 doctorate Michael Kißkalt at Berlin's Humboldt University for Dr. theol. His doctoral thesis is entitled The Diary of Richard E. Mbene and its Mission History Context .

In autumn 2014, Kißkalt succeeded Volker Spangenberg as Rector of the Elstal Theological University . At the same time he is professor for missiology and intercultural theology . His main research interests include the history of the German Baptist Cameroon mission, the life and work of the Baptist founder, Eduard Scheve, and the “evaluation and promotion of sustainable development aid in Haiti”.
