Stefan Stiegler

Stefan Stiegler (born July 31, 1954 in Limbach-Oberfrohna , Saxony ) is a German Baptist theologian. From 1991 he was a lecturer at the Baptist Theological Seminary , which was located in Hamburg-Horn until 1997 and then moved to Elstal in Brandenburg . From 2003 to 2006, Stiegler was its rector. Today he works in the management of the Hamburg Protestant Free Church Albertinen Diakoniewerkes.

Life

After obtaining his university entrance qualification , Stefan Stiegler studied from 1975 at the Evangelical-Free Church theological seminar in Buckow in Märkische Schweiz . After graduating in 1979, he worked in the Baptist congregation in Halle in the field of church music and theology. At the same time he began an additional theological course at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg , which he completed with a diploma. In 1984 Stiegler took over the pastoral service of the Evangelical Free Church Community in Greifswald and was ordained there in 1985 as pastor of the Federation of Evangelical Free Church Congregations . During his community service he was preparing for his doctorate in Dr. theol. at the Hallensisch-Wittenberg Martin Luther University , which took place in 1987. The topic of his dissertation was: The post-exilic YHWH church in Jerusalem - a contribution to an Old Testament ecclesiology .

After the reunification of the two German states and the merger of the two German Baptist unions following reunification, Stefan Stiegler was appointed lecturer for practical theology and Hebrew from the Evangelical-Free Church Theological Seminar in Hamburg-Horn in 1995 . After the theological seminary moved to Wustermark-Elstal in 1997, he received a professorship for the Old Testament . From 2001 to 2003 he was rector of the so-called Bildungszentrum Elstal , then until 2006 rector of the theological seminar (college).

In 2006 he moved to the Albertinen Diakoniewerk Hamburg-Schnelsen, where he is a manager.

Stefan Stiegler is married and has four adult children.

From 1999 to 2003, Stefan Stiegler was Chairperson of the Division for Theology and Education of the European Baptist Federation (EBF) and a member of the Executive Committee of the EBF. From 2001 to 2003 he worked as chairman of the department for theology and education of the European Baptist Federation (EBF) and was also a member of the executive committee of the EBF. From 2001 to 2006 he was the moderator of the consortium of European Baptist training centers .
