Edwin Peter Brandt

Edwin Peter Brandt (also called Edwin Brandt ; born December 15, 1943 in Litzmannstadt ) is a German Baptist pastor and former theological teacher. From 1986 to 2002 he was head of the theological seminar of the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches .

Life

Edwin Peter Brandt comes from a Baptist family. His grandfather Peter Brandt was already a Baptist preacher. After graduating, he studied from 1963 to 1964 at the Church University of Berlin and then enrolled at the Theological Faculty of the University of Hamburg and at the same time at the Theological Seminary of the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches , which at the time was based in Hamburg-Horn . In 1966 he returned to the Kirchliche Hochschule Berlin , where he completed his theology degree in 1970. As a probationary pastor, he worked as a hospital chaplain in Berlin from 1970 to 1974 . After his recognition as pastor of the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches , the Evangelical Free Churches of Hamburg-Wandsbek appointed him to their pastor in the same year. Around five years later Edwin Brandt moved to the theological seminar in Hamburg-Horn and took on a lectureship in church history . In 1986 he replaced Eduard Schütz as director of the theological seminar and remained in this position until the theological training center moved to Wustermark-Elstal in 1997.

After the theological seminary had moved, Edwin Brandt was rector of the entire educational center until 2001 and, from 1997 to 2002, director of the theological seminary. In these functions he was significantly involved in the development and conception of the new training facility for honorary and full-time employees of the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches.

From 2002 until his retirement in 2008, Edwin Brandt took over the pastoral position of the Evangelical Free Church in Potsdam .
