Michael Klinger (born November 1, 1920 in London , United Kingdom , † September 15, 1989 in Watford , Hertfordshire , United Kingdom) was a British film producer and line producer .

Live and act

The son of a tailor from Poland started his professional career during the Second World War , when the British government was desperately looking for inventors and inventors for its military armaments and defense programs. For example, he was involved in the development of a bomb test machine that could be used to test the effects of such explosive devices without detonating them. Back in civil life, Michael Klinger got by with various activities; so he worked on a market in London's East End and at times ran his own strip club . It was through this activity that he came up with the idea of opening a cinema for rather slippery films with a business partner, Tony Tenser, who is almost the same age, in London's Soho district , the Compton Cinema Club, a location only accessible to private club members. This led both men to get into the film production business themselves, and the first product of their joint activities was the nudist film Naked as Nature Intended , which opened in 1961. He and Tenser then bought the renowned London Windmill Theater and converted it into a cinema for "special screenings".

When the time of the scandal-ridden nudist films came to an end, Klinger convinced Tenser to take the plunge into the serious film production business. After a few B-productions , the team also financed or produced Roman Polański's first two British productions, Ekel and Wenn Katelbach geht… , which caused a tremendous sensation and were partly showered with hymns of praise by critics. However, these were Klinger's only trips to art cinema. With Jack reckons he made possible a very tough gangster thriller with Michael Caine in the lead role in 1970 . His later films are hardly worth mentioning. The majority of the Klinger productions, which the Briton mainly oversaw as executive producer, are harmless mass entertainment for a not-too-demanding audience. In the 1970s, he also created various elaborates of the humorous " The Confessions of ..." - Comedy series, which sometimes also contained erotic elements.
