Michael Kofler (Author)

Michael Kofler (* 1967 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian author of IT books.

Michael Kofler studied telematics at the Technical University in Graz . In 1998 he received his doctorate with the thesis R-trees for Visualizing and Organizing Large 3D GIS Databases . In 1987 he published his first book with SYBEX Verlag . He has been publishing with Addison-Wesley since 1991 and works exclusively as an author.

The first edition of his best known work “Linux. Installation, Configuration, Application ”appeared in 1995. In 2005 this book had a total circulation of 150,000 copies.

Kofler is married and has two children.
