Michael Kraf

Michael Kraf (born September 5, 1595 in Bad Neustadt an der Saale , † March 16, 1662 in Weingarten (Württemberg) was a German composer "composita et organista".

Life

Michael Kraf spent his childhood mainly in Bad Neustadt an der Saale . The last name appears in different spellings, e.g. B. Craff, Graffen (the name of the father in the baptismal registers) or Graf. The main focus of his training was in Fulda . On April 4, 1616, he took up the post of monastery composer in Weingarten Monastery. In November 13, 1617 he married Maria Spieß from Altdorf (Weingarten) . Several fiefs contributed to his livelihood , which he was awarded in the course of his career at Weingarten Monastery.
