Michael Langer (guitarist)

Michael Langer (* 1959 in Vienna ) is an Austrian guitarist , composer and guitar teacher.

Life

Langer first studied instrumental and vocal pedagogy at the Vienna Conservatory (IGP I - 1978–1983, today Vienna Conservatory Private University ) and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (IGP II - 1983–1987). He also completed diploma studies in jazz theory and arrangement at the Vienna Conservatory (1981–1985) and from 1987 to 1990 in guitar at the Music University of Graz (1987–1990) as well as a concert course in guitar at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna ( 1987–1990) 1989).

Langer plays both classical guitar and fingerstyle . At the beginning of his career he was recognized as a fingerstyle guitarist at the American Fingerstyle Guitar Festival in Milwaukee and by Guitar Player magazine .

Langer wrote numerous textbooks and sheet music editions, recorded solo albums and played concert tours around the world. He teaches guitar as an associate professor at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz and at the Conservatory Vienna Private University .

Langer's publications consist of guitar schools and songbooks, his own compositions and sheet music by other composers. The "Stars of Classical Guitar" series shows a special way: Langer uses sound material that has already been produced (in this case from the Naxos label ) and edits the associated sheet music.
