Michael Meyer-Hermann (* 23. February 1983 in Versmold , Münsterland ) is a German CDU - local politicians and since 2014 a full-time mayor of the city of Versmold.

Life

Meyer-Hermann grew up on his parents' farm in the Versmold district of Bockhorst and attended elementary school there . In 2002 he passed the Abitur at the CJD- Gymnasium Versmold. He then completed his community service at the city administration of Versmold. From 2003 he studied political science , economic policy and Dutch studies at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, and in late 2007 he obtained his master's degree . After completing his studies, Michael Meyer-Hermann worked from 2008 as a research assistant for the Minden-Lübbeck member of the Bundestag Steffen Kampeter , budget spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and subsequently Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister of Finance . He headed his representative office at the German Bundestag in Berlin .

Michael Meyer-Hermann is married and has two children.

Meyer-Hermann joined the CDU in 2000 and the Junge Union in 2001 . In the following years he was deputy chairman of the city association in both the CDU and the Junge Union.

In 2004 he ran in his home constituency Bockhorst for the Versmold city council. He was directly elected here with 44.2 percent and was then deputy chairman of the CDU council group. In 2007 he left the city council of Versmold for professional reasons.

Meyer-Hermann ran for the office of full-time mayor of his hometown Versmold in the 2014 local elections. On May 25, 2014 he was elected mayor with 53.96 percent in the first ballot. In doing so, he prevailed against the SPD applicant and an independent candidate.
