Michael Rauchwald

Michael Rauchwald (born June 19, 1955 in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee ) is an Austrian urologist and university lecturer. Since April 2004 he has been head of the Department of Urology and Andrology in the Social Medical Center East - Donauspital .

Life

Michael Rauchwald was born as the son of the board of directors of the Department of Urology at the State Hospital Klagenfurt , Karl Rauchwald . He graduated from high school and studied medicine from 1974 to 1982 at the Medical Faculty of the Karl Franzens University in Graz . From 1983 to 1989 he was an assistant doctor at the University Clinic for Surgery, Department of Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, General Surgery and Urology as well as at the Institute for Pathology Graz and the 2nd Medical Department in the State Hospital in Klagenfurt.

From 1983 to 1987 he was a lecturer for medical subjects at the Federal Institute for Physical Education in Graz and from 1987 to 1992 he was a lecturer for functional anatomy and physiology at the Institute for Sports Science at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz.

In 1989 he became a specialist and senior physician at the University Clinic for Surgery and Urology in Graz, and from 1992 to 1993 he did research at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville . In 1994 he was awarded the license to teach as a university lecturer in urology.

From 1996 to 2004 he was the head of the urology department of the St. Pölten State Hospital and since April 2004 he has been the head of the department for urology and andrology at the Ost-Donauspital Social Medicine Center . Ulrich Maier followed in this role .

He is also a sworn and court-certified expert for urology.

His main research interests are urological cancer , oncology , urological buttonhole surgery , laparoscopy , erectile dysfunction , urological stone disease and pediatric urology.

He is 20 times Austrian champion, vice-European champion and senior European champion in water skiing and has been a state-certified trainer since 1979, Michael Rauchwald was also a member of the Austrian youth alpine ski team.
