Michael Reitzel

Michael Reitzel (* 8. December 1943 in Mainz ) is a German politician of the SPD .

Live and act

After graduating from high school in 1963, Reitzel studied law and Catholic theology in Freiburg and Mainz . In 1972 he passed his second state examination and became a lawyer .

politics

Reitzel joined in 1968, the SPD and was later in the year- council of Selzen selected. In 1972 he became parliamentary group chairman in the association council of the association Nierstein-Oppenheim and in the district council of the Mainz-Bingen district . In 1974 he was elected chairman of the SPD district of Mainz-Bingen. From 1971 to 1991 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . There he was deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1979 to 1987 and then until 1990 vice-president of the parliament. Reitzel is chairman of the social democratic community for local politics in Rhineland-Palatinate.

From July 2014 to February 2018 he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the council of the Rhein-Selz community .

Honors

Reitzel was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 1987 and the Freiherr vom Stein plaque in 1994.
