Michael Franklin Quitugua San Nicolas (born January 30, 1981 in Talofofo , Guam ) is an American politician . Since 2019 he has been the non-voting delegate of the US Guam suburb in the United States House of Representatives .

Career

After graduating from high school in 1998, San Nicolas began studying history at the University of Guam , which he completed in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts . In the years that followed, he served on Senator Carmen Fernandez's staff in the Legislature of Guam and held a senior position for the Bank of Guam.

Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . He was first elected to the Legislature of Guam in 2012 and took up his mandate in 2013. He was re-elected three times between 2013 and 2019. Towards the end of his third term, he announced that he would run against the previous office holder Madeleine Bordallo in the Democratic Party primary for the office of non-voting delegate in the United States House of Representatives. After his victory in the primary election over Bordallo, he was able to defeat Doris Flores Books of the Republican Party in the main election in November 2018 and entered the United States House of Representatives in 2019.
