Robert A. Underwood

Robert Anacletus Underwood (born July 13, 1948 in Tamuning , Guam ) is an American politician ( Democratic Party ) and former delegate of Guam in the House of Representatives of the United States .

Life

Underwood attended John F. Kennedy High School in Tamuning. After graduating from school in 1965, he studied at California State University, Los Angeles , where he received his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1969 and his Master of Arts (MA) in 1971 . Underwood now taught in various positions from 1976 to 1983 at the University of Guam in Mangilao . In 1987 he received his PhD from the University of Southern California and received his Doctor of Education . From 1988 to 1992 he worked again at the University of Guam.

In 1992 he was elected to Congress as a Democrat and represented Guam from January 3, 1993 to January 3, 2003 as a delegate in the House of Representatives. In the 2002 elections to the 108th Congress, Underwood declined to run again. Instead, he ran, albeit unsuccessfully, for the office of governor of Guam. From 2008 to 2018 he was the 10th President of the University of Guam.
