Michael Sandhofer

Michael Sandhofer (born July 7, 1907 in Purbach am Neusiedler See , † September 25, 1984 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer in Purbach. and from 1949 to 1960 member of the Burgenland Landtag .

Life

Sandhofer was born as the son of the farmer Matthias Sandhofer from Purbach and attended the elementary and community school in Kapuvár and Eisenstadt . Sandhofer worked as a farmer. He was appointed economics councilor in 1957. Sandhofer co-founded the Reich Association of Catholic Youth and was its chairman until 1933.

During the Second World War, Sandhofer was drafted into the German Wehrmacht between 1940 and 1945.

From 1935 he was active as a local councilor in Purbach, was elected local party chairman of the Christian Social Party in 1933 and led the Fatherland Front in Purbach between 1933 and 1938 .

After the end of the war, Sandhofer was a member of the ÖVP from 1945 and was again a local council. Between 1950 and 1962 he held the office of mayor of Purbach. He was also chamber councilor in the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture from 1947 and 1958 and chairman of the Raiffeisen and warehouse cooperative in Eisenstadt and the surrounding area between 1949 and 1971.
