Michael Theodore Michael (born October 6, 1918 in Krakow , reign of Poland , † May 19, 1997 ) was an Israeli diplomat .

Life

Michael came to the British Mandate of Palestine in 1936 . He studied engineering at the Technion in Haifa and law at the Law School of Tel Aviv University . From 1939 to 1948 he was a member of the Haganah . He then served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) from 1948 to 1959 .

In 1956 Michael began working in the Israeli Foreign Ministry . His diplomatic career took him to Yugoslavia , Turkey and India, among others . In 1963 he became ambassador to Uganda and was the first Ambassador of non the Commonwealth of Nations belonging to the state . In the further course of his career he was ambassador to South Africa and later to Zaire .
