Michael Wilford , CBE , FRSA (born September 9, 1938 in Hartfield , East Sussex ) is a British architect .

Wilford was a partner of James Stirling for many years (from 1960). In 1971 they founded the joint office of James Stirling, Michael Wilford and Associates , which existed until Stirling's death in 1992. From 2002 to 2013 Wilford was managing director of Wilford Schupp Architects, Stuttgart, together with Manuel Schupp and Stephan Gerstner. In mid-2015, Wilford Schupp Architekten was transferred to the Orange Blu Building Solutions architectural office (headed by Manuel Schupp, Peter Vorbeck and Siggi Wernik).

A typical Wilford building is the British Embassy in Berlin .

Wilford is Commander of the British Empire (CBE), a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Singapore Institute of Architects, the Royal Institute of Arbitrators and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is an honorary member of the Association of German Architects . He teaches architecture at universities in Australia , Great Britain , Canada and the United States .
