Michael Witte & Band are a German-speaking singer-songwriter band from Osnabrück and Aachen .

history

Front man Michael Witte (born October 17, 1970 in Osnabrück) is a German singer , guitarist and songwriter . He lives in Aachen, is married and has a son.

Witte began to be interested in music in early childhood and gathered impressions from the various musical styles. After first band experiences as a guitarist, working as a composer, lyricist and increasingly as a singer, with live performances and self-produced recordings in his own home studio, he released the first EP "Fisch auf Asphalt" in 2002. In September 2005 Michael Witte won second place in the song contest of the musician magazine “BEAT” with the song “Fish on Asphalt”, whereupon he brought musicians friends from the Osnabrück scene on board to present his music live.

Gerwin Spalink (drums), Michael Schmidt (bass), Martin Lutze (electric guitar) and Sabrina Mertinkat (who already played the violin with the girl group The Pigs in the 1990s ) have formed the backing band since then. With the release of the CD “Straßen und cut”, however, part of the band changed: Alex Rosenhof played guitar and Ralf Strotmann bass. Ralf Strotmann left the band in 2010 and was replaced by Christian Kittel at the end of 2010. Lilia Kirkov joined the team on violin and double bass in 2012 as a further reinforcement.

In 2015 Michael Witte was awarded the "German Rock & Pop Prize" for his achievements as a songwriter and was nominated in another category.
