Sommerfelde is a district of the town of Eberswalde in the Barnim district in Brandenburg , Germany .

history

The origin of the name Sommerfelde cannot be reliably determined. In addition to Sommerfelde, various spellings of the name are known, such as Sommervelde, Sumerfelt and Sommerfelt.

The place is first mentioned in a document in 1307. It changed hands several times in its history. The von Arnim family as miners on Sommerfelde are mentioned in a document as the first owners in the 14th century . The village was owned by the von Arnim family for over 200 years. The place never had an important knight seat. In 1614/15 the new owner of Hohenfinow Ludwig von Pfuel acquired shares to round off his property and in 1653 the entire village of Sommerfelde. The estate fell to the von Hacke family through intermediate owners in 1687/88. The latter sold the village to privy councilor Johann Albrecht von Heugel. His widow handed the place over to Baron von Vernezobre in Hohenfinow in 1733. Thereafter, the Bethmann family took over Hollweg in Hohenfinow Sommerfelde. The family was expropriated in 1945 and their land was divided up due to the land reform.

In 1953 an agricultural production cooperative (LPG) was established in the village . From the 1970s, the place developed into a housing estate for the Eberswalde citizens who built numerous single-family houses there. The Agrargesellschaft Hohenfinow has been cultivating the agricultural area since 1990. On December 6, 1993, Sommerfelde was incorporated into the district town of Eberswalde.
