Mikhail Alexandrovich Bogdanov

Mikhail Bogdanov ( Russian Михаил Александрович Богданов ; * 4. jul. / 17th November  1914 greg. In Vyborg , Grand Duchy of Finland ; † 20th September 1995 in Moscow , Russia ) was a Russian Production Designer and Art Director .

Life

Bogdanow began his career in the film staff in 1946 as a draftsman in the preproduction for Alexander Lukitsch Ptuschko's fairy tale film The Stone Flower . From 1949 he worked as a production designer, including on Mikhail Kalatosov's war film Enemy Whirlwind . In 1957, he worked for the first and last time as art director for the adventure film Journey across Three Seas . In 1969 he was nominated for the Oscar in the category Best Production Design for Sergei Fyodorowitsch Bondarchuk's historical film War and Peace together with Gennady Alexejewitsch Mjasnikow , Georgi Koschelew and W. Uvarow , but this year the award went to the film musical Oliver . Bogdanow also missed out on the BAFTA Film Awards in 1970 , where Richard Attenborough's film revue Oh! What a lovely war .
