Mikhail Anatoljewitsch Wassiljew ( Russian Михаил Анатольевич Васильев , born March 4, 1961 in Moscow ) is a Russian handball coach and former handball player .

The 1.98 m tall and 92 kg heavy Wassiljew played for CSKA Moscow and the Soviet national team . With ZSKA, the backcourt player won the Soviet championship in 1982, 1983 and 1987, as well as the European Cup Winners 'Cup 1986/87 and the European Champion Clubs' Cup 1987/88. In 1989 he was one of the first Soviet players to move to the 2nd handball league for LTV Wuppertal . He won gold at the 1982 World Cup , the 1986 Goodwill Games and the 1988 Olympic Games . For the world title, he received the award of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR (Заслуженный мастер спорта СССР). He played 189 international matches.

After the end of his playing career "Mike" Wassiljew became assistant coach in Wuppertal. In 1999 he took over the coaching position at HC Empor Rostock . In the 2000/01 season, the second division club SG VTB / Altjührden Wassiljew signed as coach. After just one season he returned to the LTV Wuppertal, he 2003/04 for Regional resulted championship.
