Michal Kraus (born January 24, 1979 in Kolín , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech handball player . He played in the first handball league for MT Melsungen .
Kraus began his career at the Czech club SKP Frýdek-Místek. In 2004 he moved to the then second division club Melsungen. At the end of the season he rose with the team in the first division. In Melsungen, the left-hander played on the right winger . In the last game of the 2006/2007 Bundesliga season, Kraus set a curious Bundesliga record in the home game against Wilhelmshaven HV . He received three time penalties in 6 minutes and 48 seconds of playing time. The third time penalty means a red card in handball , which corresponds to a disqualification. At the start of the second half Kraus came to his first game. After 59 seconds he received the first time penalty. After 4 minutes and 4 seconds the second time penalty and after 6 minutes and 48 seconds the last time penalty. It was astonishing that he managed to score two goals in his 2 minutes and 48 seconds of effective playing time (33'22 "and 36'15"). After the 2007/08 season he left Melsungen. In 2009 he won the EHF Challenge Cup with the Romanian club UCM Sport Resita . Since the 2009/10 season he has been playing for HBC Jičín in his home country.
He has played 64 international matches for the Czech Republic so far. Kraus is married and has one child.
