Michel + Kieser was a graphic design office that existed from 1953 to 1963. Michel + Kieser was best known for their poster art and stamp designs .
History and work
Michel + Kieser was founded in Offenbach am Main as a studio community in 1953 by the two fellow students of the Offenbacher Werkkunstschule (today the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach am Main ), Hans Michel and Günther Kieser .
Michel + Kieser worked for the Deutsche Bundespost and designed numerous postage stamps. You worked as a designer for Hessischer Rundfunk for almost ten years . During their time together they designed all of the broadcasting company's publications. They also worked for the city of Frankfurt am Main , for the pharmaceutical industry and designed programs and posters for jazz concerts. In 1958 they joined the novum design group and worked for Atlas Film and Neue Filmkunst . Her work was exhibited at the Triennale in Milan in 1957 . From 1956 to 1958 they won the competition “The best German poster of the year” . In 1958, they won an award in the Photokina competition. In 1963, the Michel + Kieser studio community was dissolved, but the two of them still worked together from time to time. In 1964, works by Michel + Kieser were shown in the graphics department at documenta III in Kassel .
