Michel Bouvard (organist)

Michel Bouvard (* 1958 in Lyon ) is a French organist .

Life

Bouvard was born in Lyon in 1958. His grandfather Jean Bouvard was a composer and organist (* 1905 in Lyon) and had studied with Louis Vierne , Florent Schmitt , Vincent d'Indy and Paul Dukas . Michel Bouvard received his training in Rodez and then studied in the organ class of André Isoir and composition at the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique. He completed his training with Michel Chapuis , Francis Chapelet and Jean Boyer and was appointed organist in St-Séverin de Paris .

In 1983 he won the international organ competition in Toulouse. In 1985 he succeeded Xavier Darasse at the Conservatoire National de Région in Toulouse . Together with Jan Willem Jansen , he is artistic director of the Toulouse les Orgues festival . In 1995, together with Olivier Latry and Loïc Mallié, he was offered a professorship for organ at the Parisian CNSMD, succeeding Michel Chapuis . Since 1996 he has been titular organist of the organ of St-Sernin de Toulouse , since 2010 co-titulaire of the organ of the Palace Chapel of Versailles .

Pierre Jean Schoen is one of his students .
