Michel Delpech

Jean-Michel Delpech (born January 26, 1946 in Courbevoie , Île-de-France , † January 2, 2016 in Puteaux , Île-de-France) was a French singer, composer and author. He also appeared as an actor in the film The Lovers - From the Burden of Being Happy .

Life

Delpech grew up in a working class family. He released his first album at the age of 18. In 1966 he married the singer Chantal Simon and the marriage had two children. After the divorce in 1978, Delpech suffered from depression for a long time. In 1985 he married Geneviève Garnier-Fabre. A son was born in 1990.

One of his greatest successes was Pour un flirt , which was a European hit in 1971, topped the charts in Belgium for seven weeks, and topped the charts for a week in France too. Other number 1 hits by Michel Delpech in France were Wight Is Wight (1969), Les divorcés (1974) (the French original of the Udo Jürgens title Divorced ) and the album Michel Delpech & (2007). Pierre Bertrand arranged for him. Delpech also published some songs in German, for example Pour un flirt under the title Ich paß 'gut auf Dich (1971), I think about you ( Je pense à toi , 1975) and I was hoping for them ( Je l'attendais) .

In March 2015 his book "Vivre!" Was published, in which he described his fight against throat cancer and his fear of not being able to sing anymore. The chansonnier died a few days before his 70th birthday in a hospital in the Paris suburb of Puteaux as a result of laryngeal cancer .
