Michel Giacobini
Michel Giacobini ( 1873 - March 6, 1938 ) was a French astronomer .
Giacobini discovered his first comet on September 4, 1896, D / 1896 R2 , which was followed by twelve more discoveries - including the 21P / Giacobini-Zinner named after him on December 20, 1900 . He worked at the observatory in Nice before moving to the Paris observatory at his own request in 1910 .
In 1903 he received the Jules Janssen Prize and in 1937 the Lalande Prize . In recognition of his achievements, the asteroid (1756) Giacobini was named after him.
