Michel Polak

Michel Polak (born January 27, 1885 in Mexico , † October 4, 1948 in Brussels ) was a Belgian architect .

Life

Michel Polak studied architecture at the ETH Zurich from 1903 to 1907 . Between 1907 and 1911 he attended the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris . From 1917 on he worked with the Swiss architect Alfred Hoch . In 1922 he settled in Brussels at the invitation of real estate developer Lucien Kaisin, where he designed several luxurious buildings in the style of Art Deco and classical modernism.

After the Second World War his office was continued by his sons André and Jean Polak ; these were u. a. involved in the construction of the Atomium .
