Michel del Castillo

Michel del Castillo (born August 2, 1933 in Madrid ) is a French writer of Spanish origin.

biography

In connection with the turmoil of the Spanish Civil War , Castillo ended up in Mauthausen concentration camp as a child due to a denunciation with his mother . The physical and psychological tortures he experienced there, as well as the ones after his return to Spain in a totalitarian children's home, form the autobiographical background of his first, widely successful novel Tanguy (1957; German 1958 as Elegy of the Night ).
