Mickey Bey junior (born June 27, 1983 in Cleveland , Ohio ) is an American professional boxer and former IBF lightweight world champion.
As an amateur, he won the US Junior Championships in Fort Worth in 2001 and the National Golden Gloves in Denver in 2002 . In 2004 he took part in the US Olympic qualification in Cleveland and won the gold medal with a final victory over Brandon Ríos . However, due to pneumonia , he was unable to participate in the Athens Olympics that year .
He has boxed as a professional since 2005 and competed in a number of build-up fights in various US states until 2013, including a points win against the two-time World Cup challenger Hector Velázquez. In May 2014 he defeated the Mexican Alan Herrera and then boxed against Miguel Vázquez for the IBF lightweight world championship in September 2014 , winning on points.
He lost the title in June 2016 just on points to Rances Barthelemy . In December 2019 he also lost on points against George Kambosos.
