Micranthocereus estevesii is a species of the genus Micranthocereus in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet honors the discoverer of the species and cactus specialist Eddie Esteves Pereira from Goiania, Brazil.

Micranthocereus estevesii rarely grows branching with columnar bluish green shoots and reaches heights of up to 6 meters. The shoots have a diameter of up to 15 centimeters. There are about 37 to 42 narrow ribs . The round areoles are covered with yellowish brown wool and hair. The 6 to 7 slightly curved central spines are light brown and between 0.2 and 3.5 inches long. The approximately 12 needle-like, light brown radial spines are between 5 and 11 millimeters long. The 5 to 7 centimeters wide cephalium consists of white to cream-colored wool up to 2.2 centimeters long and red bristles up to 0.8 centimeters long.

The broad, funnel-shaped flowers are white and open at night. They are up to 3.5 centimeters long and have the same diameter. The light blue fruits are up to 1.3 centimeters long and 1.4 to 0.9 centimeters in diameter. They dry up when ripe and disintegrate.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Micranthocereus estevesii is native to the Brazilian state of Goiás and the neighboring state of Tocantins.

The first description as Austrocephalocereus estevesii was published in 1974 by Albert Frederik Hendrik Buining and Arnold J. Brederoo (1917-1999). Friedrich Ritter placed them in the genus Micranthocereus in 1979 . A synonym is Siccobaccatus estevesii (Buining & Brederoo) PJBraun & Esteves (1990) .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
