Midas Films
Midas Films is a Portuguese film production company, film distributor and DVD publisher. The company was founded in 2006 by Pedro Borges in Lisbon .
The focus is on documentaries (art, architecture, history, film, dance, etc.) and author's films, also for television. In addition, the licensing of high-quality films and documentaries for the Portuguese market (e.g. retrospectives by Andrei Tarkovsky , Alain Resnais , Emir Kusturica , Eric Rohmer ) is important both as a film distributor and as a DVD publisher.
Due to the particularly tense financial situation in Portugal, film distributors and producers on site also see themselves threatened. As the most important distributor, Midas Filmes is the spokesman for the advocacy of high-quality films. Even in the increasingly difficult market situation, Midas adheres to minimum requirements, even with its larger productions. In this way, they can not only collect international film prizes and critical acclaim, but also show national success at the ticket counter.
In addition, the Midas Filmes' socially engaged program also receives special recognition from non-governmental organizations , young filmmakers and minorities.
