Aldina Maria Miguel Duarte (born July 22, 1967 in Lisbon ) is a singer of the Portuguese fado .

prehistory

She was born on July 22nd, 1967 in a social housing area of Chelas, a district of Lisbon . She sang in a band that was particularly known for its theater-influenced live performances, called "Valdez e as Piranhas Douradas", and others. a. with actor Pedro Wilson.

It wasn't until she was 24 that she went to a fado bar in Bairro Alto for the first time . She played in the film "Xavier" by Manuel Mozos , where she sang the fado "A rua do capelão". Later she sang regularly in the fado club "A Sé" in Lisbon and slowly established herself in the fado scene.

Duarte worked at EMI Portugal and was also involved in albums by Camané , to whom she was also married.

Career

In 2004 she recorded her first album, "Apenas o amor", which was based on traditional Fado songs (Fado menor, Fado bailado, Fado carriche, Fado das horas, Fado Tango, Fado laranja). It was the old master of modern fado, Carlos do Carmo , who encouraged her to do more performances, more training and also the first recording. The established musicians Carlos Manuel Proença (classical guitar, port .: "Viola") and José Manuel Neto ( Portuguese guitar ) played for them on their debut recordings (and accompany them to this day).

The poem antology "DIGA 33" from 2008 also included the poem "Princesa prometida" by Aldina Duarte. In 2009 she appeared as a fado singer in Eugène Green's film The portuguese , in which Camané also appeared as a male fado singer.
