The publishing house was founded in 1991 by Gregory C. Zäch (* 1964) in St. Gallen , and has been based in Zurich on the Zürichberg since 2006 .

The publishing program originally focused on computers and management, today, in addition to management, primarily the areas of photography, lifestyle and Swiss topics.
Midas Management Verlag has been publishing non-fiction and specialist books on topics such as innovation, creativity, marketing and strategy since 1997.
The Midas Collection was founded in 2014 and encompasses the themes of design, photography, art and fashion.
Since autumn 2016 the publisher has also had a children's book program with a focus on art for children , and since 2018 also with picture books and narrative non-fiction books.
