The Midkiff Rock is an isolated and 590 m high ledge in the west Antarctic Marie-Byrd-Land . In the Ford Ranges, it rises 10 km east-southeast of Mount West from a wide and icy mountain ridge between the Hammond and Swope glaciers .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it using its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after Frank Tyler Midkiff Jr. (1942–1997), aircraft mechanic and crew member for helicopter flights during Operation Deep Freeze in 1968.
