Siala-Mou "Mighty Mo" Siligia (born October 8, 1970 ) is a Samoan kickboxer , boxer and MMA fighter. He won the 2004 K-1 World Grand Prix tournament in Las Vegas and the 2007 K-1 World Grand Prix tournament in Hawaii.
K-1 career
Mighty Mo made his debut in February 2004 at the K-1 in the "K-1 Burning" event in Japan against Hiraku Hori , he in the fourth round with a right hook ko suggested. After he failed in the semifinals of his first tournament, he celebrated his comeback in Las Vegas four months later . There he won a K-1 Grand Prix tournament for the first time by defeating Brecht Wallis in the second round of the final.
In 2007 Mo returned to the K-1 after a one-year break. In Yokohama , Japan he competed against Choi Hong-man , a 218 cm tall fighter from Korea . Mo was able to place his notorious rights and was the first and so far the only one who won against Choi with a knockout. In doing so, he also broke another record. Never before had a K-1 fighter been able to defeat his opponent despite such a size disadvantage (33 cm). However, this mark was outbid in December 2007 by Nicholas Pettas (180 cm), who spectacularly knocked down the 217 cm tall Korean Kim Young-Hyun (37 cm difference in height).
In April 2007 Mighty Mo was listed as a top favorite at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2007 tournament in Hawaii. He was able to prevail against all three opponents with a knockout and thus qualified for the eliminations in Seoul , Korea .
Mo lost the newly introduced K-1 super heavyweight championship against Semmy Schilt . He also suffered a point defeat against the German Stefan "Blitz" Leko .
At the 2007 Final Eliminations, Choi Hong-Man got his revenge. Mo lost the fight unanimously on points. During the fight he received an unclean low blow and was wrongly counted by the referee. The resulting deficit in points was decisive for the defeat. After the fight, Mo said in an interview: “Choi made a slightly stronger impression on me. I've hit him well a few times, even harder than the last fight, and he didn't go down, which surprised me. He apparently trained to take punches better. I feel disadvantaged and should have won. The arbitrators were partial. Choi must have learned a new technique for punching below the belt. Next time I'll use a better groin guard . And next time I don't want to fight him in Korea. "
On October 2, 2010, Mo surprisingly took part in the Final Eliminations in Seoul. He stood in for Ruslan Karayev , who was unable to attend due to the flu. His opponent was the young Raul Catinas. Mo did not have enough time to prepare properly for the fight, but thanks to a downpour in the first round, he won the fight on points. So he was surprisingly in the K-1 World Grand Prix 2010.
On December 11, 2010, Mo met Peter Aerts in the first fight of the tournament at the 2010 World Grand Prix . That fight was a revenge from 2005 in which Mo lost to Aerts. But even in this fight Mo could not come close to the technical class of Aerts and lost the fight after 2 minutes and 30 seconds by knockout.
On March 2, 2012, he fought against the WKA world champion Florian Pavic for the WKA world championship up to 95 kg during Steko's Fight Night . He lost this after 5 × 3 minutes on points.
